#UnitedStates #DC – Carrie Prejean Boller, a former Miss California beauty pageant model and Conservative activist, was allegedly removed from the Religious Liberty Commission on February 11th, 2026, due to her anti-Zionist stance during a hearing on antisemitism in which she questioned whether anti-Zionism was antisemitic. Ms. Prejean Boller denied that rejection of the State of Israel and Zionist movement as being inherently antisemitic.
President Trump established the commission to address religious liberty issues, including combating anti-Christian bias, antisemitism, and supporting faith-based partnerships. Prejean Boller was appointed as a commissioner in May 2025. She is a longtime Trump supporter, friend of President Trump, and outspoken conservative voice on social media.
The removal stemmed from a contentious public hearing on antisemitism in America held on February 9, 2026. During the hearing, Prejean Boller challenged witnesses and fellow commissioners on the definition of antisemitism. She questioned whether criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza or opposition to Zionism should automatically be labelled antisemitic. She also stated that “Catholics do not embrace Zionism” and that the modern State of Israel does not hold special biblical/prophetic significance in Catholic teaching. She further questioned whether Catholic beliefs or rejection of Israel were therefore antisemitic.
The Catholic Church does not have an official position on the State of Israel or Zionism, holding regular diplomatic relations with the Israeli government, but Church tradition does oppose dispensationalism, a Protestant theological framework from which Christian Zionism originates from, which differentiates between the “Church,” or community of believers, and what is identifiable as Israel or a continuation of Israel from the Bible. The Catholic Church on the other hand instead teaches supersessionism (also called “replacement theology”) and states that the “Church” has succeeded Biblical Israel, in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ and St. Paul, to become the New Israel, which it has remained as for the last two thousand years as the “Kingdom of God” on Earth. At the same time, Zionism, the political movement founded with the purpose to found a Jewish homeland, has since 1948 repeatedly become a conflated and ambiguous term that has departed from its original meaning due to the controversies surrounding the State of Israel, especially in recent times.
Regardless, Texas Lieutenant-Governor Dan Patrick (chair of the commission) announced Carrie Prejean’s removal on February 11, 2026, stating she had tried to “hijack” the hearing. Prejean Boller disputed his authority, arguing only President Trump could remove her. The Trump administration has not responded to this alleged removal with confirmation that Ms. Prejean Boller has indeed been removed.
