Emma Monique is a private investigator in the year 1984 in the City of Harlech, British Columbia. She takes on whatever work she can get to come her way. Unlike most of her colleagues though, and most of the town, she holds herself up to a code of ethics and standards that wonβt see her cross the line. She plays by the book, but she always wasnβt this way. As a result of a particular investigation, Emma finds herself crossing paths with her high school friend, Kaj Kejsaren, a Harlech Police Department constable who has no issues when it comes to breaking the rules and seemingly has no ethics. Just like in high school, the pair team up again to solve investigations and mysteries that seem interconnected and which cause them to reminisce about old times in this hellish and sinful city.
